Does Medicare cover Saxenda?
Short answer: No. Saxenda (daily liraglutide for weight loss) is not among the Bridge program's three covered drugs, and as a weight-loss-only medication it falls under Part D's statutory exclusion. Why Saxenda specifically misses both paths
The Bridge's covered list is specific — Wegovy, Zepbound (KwikPen), Foundayo — and Saxenda isn't on it. Outside the Bridge, Part D's long-standing exclusion of weight-loss drugs applies. (Liraglutide's diabetes twin, Victoza, is covered for type 2 diabetes — same molecule, different label, different answer.)
If you used Saxenda in the past or were researching it: the covered Bridge products are weekly rather than daily injections and produced substantially larger average weight loss in trials. Will any Medicare plan cover Saxenda?
Weight-loss-only drugs are statutorily excluded from Part D, and Saxenda isn't in the Bridge. Some Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits mention weight-loss support, but drug coverage for Saxenda is not a realistic expectation.
What about Victoza — isn't that the same drug?
